Thumbs down Jeer

Hi all. I bought a set of used OEM headlights from a member on here about a month ago. I made sure to ask him if they were in good shape before I bought them. He said yes, and even sent me a picture of them showing that they were indeed in good shape. The picture looked good so I jumped on the deal.

I pay the man, and it takes over 2 weeks for the headlights to show up. In a box with ZERO protective packaging, minus a piece of paper. I opened the box and wouldn't you know it, the passenger side light has a sort of goo like substance on the INSIDE of the lens.

I immediately text seller and ask him WTH? He tells me to blow out the inside with an air nozzle. I told him that wouldnt work, but he insisted. So I blow it out and what do you know, the goo is still on the lens. I text him back and tell him that it didnt work.

He tells me and I quote, " To be honest i didnt package them they sat in the garage an my gurlfriend packaged them, ..."

Since the 22nd of May, the day I received the lights, I have been trying to get him to fix this situation. At first he said he was going to get me a replacement headlight. I said okay. Then more time went by and I still didnt hear from him. Then on the 30th he said he would let me know the next day if he had anything for me. That day came and I texted him with no response back. So I filled a dispute with paypal. I texted him and told him that I did just that and still have not heard back from him.

This really boils my blood. Really? You couldnt have taken a couple of minutes out of your day to check the lights before you send them to me?

What should I do now? Should I escalate the issue with Paypal?

I guess if you paid a good penny for them and he's not responding to any way you try to contact him, escalate the issue. If you picked them up cheap then you should expect them to not be perfect, seeing as they're used headlights. If you want to fix it yourself, preheat your oven to 250F and "bake" the headlights for 6-8 mins. This will allow you to remove the lens from the housing and clean the goo off. Then just stick them back in the oven and press them back together while the glue is still soft and find a way to keep pressure on the lens while the glue hardens. It's really simple - I was a bit hesitant to do this myself until I actually did it when I did my HID retrofit, but after doing it, I realized how easy it was. Good luck

Thanks for the heads up. I paid $65 for them. And I did expect them to be used of course. But the picture he sent me and the real thing are totally different. I bought these for the soul purpose of not having to take them apart. I have really bad luck with resealing headlights.

Any other takers out there? I think I will be taking it to the next notch tomorrow if I dont hear back from the seller.

Read that I am supposed to put the members name from which I made the purchase. mote88 is the person that I am referring to in these posts. And I still have yet to hear back from him.

I escalated the issue with Paypal, so i guess it lays on them now.

Just a bummer that I dropped my hard earned cash on crap...
