Beware: P51 mach
Actually priority mail comes with a free tracking number. I know this because I own a internet sales business and I ship priority every day. The tracking number should be on the receipt, if its not, take it to the post office and they can give you the tracking number.

It may be different at the post office then....I print my labels off on the computer, and my flat rates always give me a tracking number...Maybe I can get a number off of the receipt and try to track it for you on my USPS account. Worth a shot maybe.
I thought the same, so I called the post office and they told me that flat rate boxes do not have a tracking number. They asked for the delivery address and my address. They told me they would be able to track it and let me know, that is where the case number came from. Then they told me that the postman remembered delivering it to the address of the buyer. He confirmed delivering it and it is noted with the case number from the USPS. I will scan the receipt and post it on here shortly.
Yep.. If you print your labels online they give you a free tracking number. In store you have to pay for it.
I added a picture of my receipt. Thanks for all the replies! Next time I will be getting tracking number, didnt realize it didnt have one until after I left. They never asked about tracking number and paying extra for it.

The postman should have left a notice for him to pick it at the post office since he wasn't home instead of leaving it on the porch. Im a letter carrier myself and we leave a notice if no one is at home unless the package states on the box carrier leave if no response.
I have moved this to where it belongs. Not taking sides in this, but I want to leave it up as it is a good lesson for shipping through the postal system. Maybe we can all learn from oldtruckluvr's misfortune. Please don't let the thread deteriorate.
