VMP Tuning, long read

I have thought this through and debated about what significance, if any, it would have. I decided to go ahead with it mainly because I feel I was not treated fair. I will keep this as short as possible and I am not posting this to bash Justin. But I see a need for this type to be known.
A few months ago I wanted to get another programmer for my 98 Expedition. I have used Superchips a couple of times and though I was happy, I was curious about the custom tunes. After spending countless hours reading up on the benefits of custom vs canned, I decided on custom. After countless hours of reading about which tuner/company to go with on a few forums, I chose Justin and VMP. His rep is at the top and his work is well known. I contacted him via email to basically say hi and I am interested in your SCT/tunes.
About a month or so go by and I send the info along with the tunes I wanted. First issue was the PCM #. I couldn't figure out which one was the correct one. From going to the dealership to sending Justin every number on the PCM. Justin was paid $418.00 and he sent the SCT X3 w/out the tunes.
Being new to custom tunes I was leary about getting it "untuned" when I am used to plug and play. After numerous attempts on my end Justin "made up" a number in order to get the tunes mailed. I get the tunes and see the tunes are not what I wanted/ordered. Specifically the performance tune. I asked for nothing above a 89 tune simply because I was not going to put 91/93 in it. Justin assures me I can still run 89, so no problem.
I load the tunes and run into problems with the tow tune. It feels like it falls on its face and starts out in second gear. So I clear it/take back to stock and load it again. Does fine. I did this with each tune and have the same issue, however each time I clear it to get it right. I,m new but not stupid. All during these steps I was emailing Justin with him replying, but I wanted to have him on the phone so I could do it step by step according to him. I would guess I called Justin 4-5 times and spoke with him once. He was on vacation and would get back in touch with me after he was back. I never heard back until I emailed him again.
I have every email exchanged and my issues were something I feel could have been cleared up in a 20 minute phone conversation. As I mentioned, I was new to custom tunes and I paid for them. But I hoped and still do that if I have a question or problem with a product I bought, I would have someone to go to for help. That is not the case. I asked to send the programmer back with the understanding I would lose money due to the return policy. I asked how much and Justin told me he wanted me to be a happy customer so I waited until the following Monday because he was so busy the week before. He had my phone numbers and email. Monday comes and goes, so Tuesday I email him. Again, this is after i cannot get him on the phone. In a "mature manner", I said I was very unhappy and with the product and the help or lack there of I have received. Still no reply two days later and I said I was going to file a complaint with BBB and I was pissed, point blank.
Without a doubt I know he is busy and has emails/phone calls stacked. However after that email Tuesday night, he refuses to reply to my emails. There is alot more to this and I apologize for the long post, but spending any money for a product and not fully understanding it or having issues such as I had needs to be addressed.
I welcome Justin or anyone else to post and Justin, you have my email and numbers.

Tony

No, I did not do any data logging. Justin did not mention doing anything of the sort. I do not understand most of the technology and I made that clear to Justin. That is why I tried so many times to get the "dummy version" of the custom tunes and the programmer itself. My initial concern was to get the tunes loaded on to my vehicle and when I ran into the problem after loading one, I emailed Justin. The terminology used was such that I could not grasp it so I asked for explanations. When the first issue came up with the car "falling on its face", he sent me another tune via email.
By basic maintenance what do you mean? There are no codes, its runs fine with the tunes now with exception of the shift pressure.
Maybe it was simply the way I loaded the tunes and the need to play with it more, but the questions arose so I went back to the person I bought it from. I know I became a thorn in his side by the amount of questions I asked but truly felt he would walk me through it.

Last tune up was around 98k. ALL fluids etc were changed for peace of mind. There have been no issues with codes or any other reason to replace anything besides the norm maintenance. As far as actual name brands, I do not recall off the top of my head.

Fuel filter being included in the etc portion of my last reply. Anything that I felt needed to be done, again, for peace of mind, I had done.

You posted that on another thread I had and I appreciate it. I have it saved but at the time we were corresponding it was not mentioned so of course I did not think about it.

I made an offer to Justin to return the programmer and lose 1/4 of what I spent on it. He agreed to do this and replied a few hours after I sent the email. So the programmer was sent back UPS today.
I hope there is a quick turn around with my refund and I am going with a different company. This is not the way I wanted to do business with Justin, but at least it seems to be coming to an end.
