I make a point to powerwash the wheel wells about once every 5 washes (about twice per month typically for me).

I use a semi-stiff nylon bristled brush and scrub till my heart is content. I just use my standard car wash solution (meguiars gold class). Works fine for me. Just takes some elbow grease...

I just spray my wheel cleaner up there and scrub it quickly with a stiff nylon brush. The same brush I use on the tires (rubber part).

I'll them spray them out with a hard stream of water.

Most of the time I only have mud up there and that quickly comes out. Make sure you spray some of your dressing up in your wheel well. It'll make them nice and black and make your tires stand out more. This step isn't as important on our trucks because you can't see the wheel wells that well but some vehicles it makes a HUGE difference.
