Some people were painting a building yesterday and to make a long story short, there's overspray all over my brand new truck. It's not really obvious or really bad, but the overspray is there and has me ticked off....the only bright side is it's white paint on a white truck. The overspray is most noticeable on the bug deflector, trim pieces and on the windows.

Anyway, what product would the board recommend for getting the overspray off the paint and the windows? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

 

Use clay on the paint work and the plastic bug deflector.

For the windows you can use Clay or you can use Mineral Spirits.

You can try to get the people who were painting to pay for a professional to fix it.

 

I forgot to mention that I did speak with the people who were doing the painting. They were more than nice and offered to pay for the truck to get detailed.

What scares me is how some cars look coming out of some reputable detail shops with the "buffer streaks" on them/wax on trim etc.--IMHO looking worse than when they went in. I just don't want my ride to be one that gets goofed up and have to waste more time getting it corrected.

I'd rather try and do it right myself and if it doesn't work, then I'll take it to a detailer as a last resort.

When you say clay are you talking about clay bars? Which brand is a good one? Do they work well? Anything technical about them? I've never used one of these.

 

Mother's Clay is pretty good and can be picked up at Pep Boys.

Do a search and look through some of the previous threads. We've discussed a lot about the ins and outs of claying.

If you want a Pro to do it, then find a mobile one. They are usually better because they rely on repeat customers so they'll do a good job.

 

I've been really happy with Meguiars Professional Body Shop Clay bar. Not sure if you have a local wax shop that carries the Meguiars pro line but, if so, I'd recommend it.

I've used Mothers as well... no problems really... much more readily accessible as well.

Same thing happend to my wife's Alero. I tried every product I thought would work, nothing worked except the clay bar. The clay bar took it all off. Works great.
