LG issue

My Grandpa has a 2002 Ford Ranger and he has had it now for about 3 months. It's red and he would like to polish it,,,,,not wax just polish it to keep the microscracthes down and keep it looking it's best. While discussing this issue with him I told him about LG. He says ok to use it but is the paint job still too new to use it or is it ok?????? Also, what will we need to do to prep the surface for LG????? Thanks

You want to give....

....the surface 90 days or so to cure, so 60-90 days after you bought it is a good rule of thumb on new cars.

As for prep, there are many here more qualified than myself to suggest what to do, but I have cleaned the surface with Dawn dishwashing liquid, then chamois dry, than use Meguiar's Body scrub (the one which says it is non-abrasive) to remove any sap or bird-mess residue and the like. Then, LG.

LG also has a prep compound of their own, but I can't seem to find it at Pep Boys, where I bought the LG in the first place. Your luck may be better than mine.

Just do what DrDevon stated, you will love the results of Liquid Glass. I have been using it for 17 yrs.

You can look on the manufacturers label and see when the truck was built. This will tell you how old the paint is. I've never used Liquid Glass before, but have heard some good results from it Meguiars makes some excellent products also, and I have had good luck with their products. Look for their proffesional series in the tan bottle.

DrDevon said it right. That was the method I used. I have 1 coat of LG on in this picture, and the picture was taken about 3 days after washing the truck.

I now have 2 coats of LG on and it is looking great. I was going to buy the LG Prep stuff, but Meguires Body Scrub worked very well for the waterspots. If you like, you can buy the LG Prep from their website. www.liquidglass.com

yup, as long as its been the minimum waiting time for any polish, you can use the LG. Just have to strip any wax if the dealer put a coat on for ya though. The LG won't adhere right. But they probably didn't so you should be good.

and yes, the shine and reflection is amazing....taken with 2 coats of LG about 8 months ago. Pics don't do it justice
