Problems or is it me?
I had a Ford ESP Premium Care on a truck I had several years ago, the dealer wasn’t very cooperative at all, that is why I chose a third party warranty and so far its been great. Warranty Gold, Ltd. offered things Ford could not i.e.: the plan starts from date of purchase of contract not in service date. Furthermore the plan simply covered more i.e.: Ford excludes squeaks, rattles and wind noise, potentially my engine or tranny could squeak or rattle in which they wont diagnose the problem because of that exclusion therefore I am forced to pay diagnosis and any repairs occurring from that noise. Verbiage of this sort does not belong in a factory warranty, if they want my business it shouldn’t have loopholes in the contract.

I work for a dealer in the Houston area and I actually have a Ford esp on my truck primarly beacuse even though I can repair my own truck I've still got to pay for parts. I can tell you after dealing with aftermarket warranty policies for over ten years, I havent found a aftermarket policy that is worth the paper its written on, sure my dealer sell aftermarket warranty but I don't recommend them. I can't tell you how many times aftermarket warranties have denied claims for the dumbest reasons, lets say you blow your engine up and they decide to cover it aftermarket war. won't cover fluids and shop supplies. I had a car not to long ago with engine blown and the warranty denied the claim because they found the thermostat stuck and they wouldn't cover damage caused by a stuck thermostat. Unless you had a crystal ball no one could tell wether that stuck t-stat caused the problem or was a result of the problem. The owner paid cash for the repairs and is now sueing ge capital warranty. For a new vehicle a Ford esp is the best way to go + you don't have to buy it when the truck is new you've got to 3/36000
I could type stories all day long about how aftermarket warrantys have left owners hanging they are cheaper up front but you'll have to trust me they cost you in the end.

I recently decided to purchase an extended warranty for my 99 F150. I looked at Warranty Gold and Warranty Direct. After doing some internet searches on both, I did not have a comfortable feeling about these companies. I've had Ford ESP warranties in the past, and the work was always done quickly and correctly. My wife had one of these generic warranties on her Taurus and although the dealership accepted the Warranty, the car had to stay in the shop 3 extra days so someone from the Warranty company could visit the dealership and authorize the work. It's not worth the few bucks you save in my opinion.
