you should strip the zaino 1st, and then use the LG, and when you have enough coats (recommend 10) then you can use Z over top of it. Just not the other way around, otherwise the LG won't bond to the paint right. Thats what tampa does and his truck looks awsome. But you might as well save money and time and just use LG because why spend the extra money for 2x's the product and 5x's the work.

Have you seen a truck with zaino compared to one with LG? If so did they look the same as far as shine or did one look better then the other?

01 XLT Sport, no i have never seen a black Z truck next to a black LG truck, but i'll tell you this. I get nothing short of comments at auto shows on how amazing the shine and reflection is and people are constantly asking me what kind of wax i use. I actually get tired of explaining what LG is to them. Z is a good polish though, and when i get a used ranger, i may try it, but i'll probably end up using klasse to try something new, just because z takes so long to do with so many steps and products. But from what i have heard on teh boards the amount of time i've been here, the 3 top polishes people use are Z, LG, and K. So it shouldn't really matter what one you use, they are all top notch.

Thanks for the information. I was just wondering if you had and what you thought. I have read, in the past few days, comments about LG and how well it works. I have also read Intel's comments about LG so coming from him and you this stuff must really be excellent.

Before I bought the Zaino I did a good amount of research, if you can call it that, reading many different boards, and detailing boards and as you said found that Zaino was one of the top 3 people recommended. I have to admit I spent close to $80 for the different products and was nervious about trying anything on my truck because I have never really did much waxing, still won't try a buffer but becoming braver each day. I was always afraid of doing damage with the wrong product, and buffer. Use to take my truck to detailers and didn't really care for the job they did for the cost, seemed most could not keep the polish off the plastic, would cover it up for me to find after the first or second wash.

I must say I am very pleased with Zaino I have 4 coats on now and it looks awesome, even compared to what it looked like after spending $100 for pro detailer, wished I lived next to Intel, I'd just have him do it

I can't yet say how well or how long it will last I just put the forth coat on last week so time will tell. I'd love to try some of the stuff Intel recommends but from what I understand you need a buffer to do it right, not ready to go there yet

I am really thinking about trying the LG once the Zaino wears off to see how well it works. I have a silver truck and it really shines nice now, so we'll see what happens down the line, again thanks for your information.

z shine good... LG shine great

Harley#356,
As for the Z, I think it's a great product, but my black truck does not shine like yours. I think Z is so popular because it's SO easy to apply and remove. Z is a great product for hand application.
After seeing the result from yours and Okie DRN's truck, I GOTTA try the LG! Tell me though, do you apply LG by hand or with a random orbit buffer? Also, do you wax over the LG?
Thanks,
Marcus

I apply it by hand and remove it by hand.

and you can wax over LG, but i don't see why. Every time you want to apply another coat of LG, you'd have to strip the wax.
you can wax over glass, but you cant glass over wax
I believe Tampasvt did 10 base coats of LG and now just uses wax over top of it. I just use liquid glass, and i have probalby close to 20 coats on it. Either way will work, i just prefer the all LG way. Good luck. post pics.

I applied it by hand.

1. washed the truck with Dawn
2. Used Meguires Body Scrub to remove a few waterspots and "crap".
3. Washed with Dawn again.
4. Made sure truck was dry.
5. Applied & removed LG by hand in sections. I did it by body part (fender, door, tailgate, etc...). I did the hood in two sections.

3 days after the first coat was applied this picture was taken.

I now have 2 coats on and I love this stuff!

yeah, not sure if i mentioned this or not, but you can either apply it to the whole truck like i do, or section by section like deep does. It's just preferance. But the hood can be a PITA with streaking for somereason. That i usually apply it, and then buff it off, and do another coat but don't let it dry and buff it off. If that doesn't do it, a damp rag will get the streaks off. Just a fyi

Hey Harley.

What kind of rags do you use on your truck to clean/wax/polish?

For washing I have a wool mitt thing.
For waxing/LG'ing I use a soft cotton cloth (not a terry towel)
For removing the wax/LG I use a microfiber towel
And for general buffing and dusting a microfiber towel is used.

I would like to start using terry towels for waxing and wiping the wax off. But when I feel those towels in the auto parts store and they just are not soft. I just can't bring myself to use them. Any thoughts?

For washing i use really really soft sponges and rinse them often. To put on the LG i use a 100% cotton applicator. To take it off i use 100% cotton rags.

Zaino recommends cannon or fieldcrest 100% cotton towels. I"ll probably get some of those.

DAMN your truck looks good

grishfish:

From most of the information I read on web sites and other detailing forums they don't really recommend Zaino for dark colors, only light, and for dark colors they recommend klasse. Note that is thier recommendations not mine

I am very pleased with the Zaino I have had it on for about 2 months and it still has a great shine to it. Intel put it well in a thread somewhere "candy coat look" to it. I have a silver truck.

After reading all of Harley#386 post I really, really want to try the LG, will have to wait until the Zaino wears off. Oh and deep6blue, DAMN your truck looks good...

Hey, its #356 LoL just messing w/ ya.

Anyway, as for the zaino on dark colors, i started a thread at autopia about whether to use LG or Z. THe results were about 1/2 and 1/2 split. I'm probalby gonna get some zaino just so i can compare the results myself between z and LG. The biggest perk i see of using Z is it lasts longer. I dunno yet though, i'll be the guinnea pig and test them both. LoL

Oh chit, damn finger must of been sleeping... by the way do you have any pictures of your truck? I hear you about the Zaino, and like I posted its only what I have read since I have no experence with it except with my silver truck. It will be interesting to hear your results on a dark color especially since your truck must have a shine like deep6blue. The two of you must be getting some great gas milage with alot less wind friction
