front bumper question
front bumper question
I have a 2000 XL, I was wondering if I can swap out a bottom valance with on that has the fog lights. If so what years, and do they make any projector beam fog lights that replace the factory ones. I want to paint bumper to match but leave the chrome peice chrome. Thanks!!
Joni Nitro,

. . . looks to be about $275.00 for the valance and fog light assemblies! I have not found any better lights that will fit the stock opening but you could always go to a brighter bulb!
I just replaced (and sold) the stock valance and lights off my 2000 XLT SCab 4x4 . . . and now I am rethinking the whole thing! I installed the PIAA front valance . . . no lights yet (another $200 bucks for the fogs alone) but . . .
I'm beginning to think that the stock set-up just looks better! Kind of makes the truck look wider while the PIAA with its big round holes makes the truck look higher and kind of skinny-er (if thats a word).
So, here I am, do I want to shell out another $450.00 for PIAA lights or just go back to the stock set-up for about $300.00 and sell the PIAA airdam?
Not that the PIAA airdam isn't wicked cool - I'm just beginning to think I like the stock set-up better . . .
I think your idea is great . . . check the classified, someone may be getting rid of theirs (as I did) and you may get a good deal! Keep us informed on how this turns out!
Bob
ADDED: Pilot used to make a set of driving lights that fit beside the license plate but I have not seen them for some time. Will check around and see what I can find!

I just ordered the Ford foglight valance set up for my SCrew. I really think, other than the L and Harley covers, it looks the best on the truck. Just trying to decide whether or not to paint it to match. Don't see many done.
well....
I think that I have decided to stick with the stock bumper, and get the two black peices painted to match and leave everything else chrome. I guess I like the look of chrome up front, reminds me of the awsome cars of the 50's and 60's. Besides, I like to make things a little different, it seems everyone wants a L or HD bumper. It was the same thing when I had my Mustang everyone wanted a Cobra bumper. Thanks yall for the input!!!
