Question for Intel or others
This might be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. Before I knew of this forum (or autopia for that matter) I used the store bought Zymol (Turtle wax). It gave an awesome shine to my F-150 and the wife's Accord. My question is after about a week of applying the Zymol, there was virtually no beading of rainwater on the vehicles. Could this lack of beading be due to the car being just dirty??? I hadn't washed it within a week after applying the Zymol, and I'm wondering if just normal dust and dirt during this time can cause the no bead results, or is the wax simply falling down on the job???? Any help appreciated
Sometimes wax will only bead right after you apply it. Sometimes they stop beading or don't bead aswell but they are still protecting. Beading isn't really a good way to judge wax. Also, rain doesn't seem to bead as well as water that is sprinkled on from a hose.
To test if there is wax on your truck, run a 100% cotton towel over the paint (make sure the paint is clean). If they towel feels like it sticks to the paint or is pulling on the paint, then it doesn't have any wax protection.
If the towel glides smoothly over the paint, then there is still wax on it.

Thanx Intel
Thanks Intel,
I figured dirt or other contaminates could cause "the no bead phenomenom" . I guess it's a moot point anyway with the Zymol cause' I'm gonna take your recommendation and others and switch to Klasse.....Thanx

If you want beading, then Klasse really isn't the way to go. Klasse doesn't bead to well.
A carnauba wax is the way to go if you want beading. I'd put Klasse on for the shine and protection and then top with a carnauba wax to get that beading you like.

Oh no, I'm not really concerned at all with the beading...i.e. I want maximum shine and duration. I was just a little concerned because it was only 1 week to the day and there was practically no beading. So Klasse is still gonna be it, for longevity, looks. Thanks
By the way, before I came across this forum and Autopia (my less knowledgeable days) I ordered some cleaner/polish, and some sealant Called Der Real Stuff, and Der Shiney Stuff. Last week I Dawn washed, Mother's clayed, and then applied Der Real Stuff, followed by Der Shiney Stuff to my 1997 F-150 Ext cab 4x4.
I have to admit, that I've probably never seen such a gloss to this vehicle (even though I haven't had it very long) also the windows came up fantastic after using Der Shiney Stuff on them. I believe these products are totally acrylic, and can be used on paint, chrome, and glass. I have no idea how the longevity is going to be (the sellers claim up to 18 months) Hah, Hah! we know no product can do that, but I was wondering if you've had any experience or heard anything about the Der Stuff products, good or bad. So far I'm impressed but we'll see........let me know any info you might have on this stuff.
