Thanks, will check out both. I had a really nice one from when I was detailing cars, but it broke last time I used it and can't be repaired.

Why not go for a rotary buffer? You can do a lot more with them. I've got the Makita 9227C. Great buffer!

For those of you that have the PC buffer. The foam pad that comes with it, does it use covers or just the pad itself?? Are the pads washable or do you need a different pad for each type of wax??

Thanks

From what I understand, is you just use the foam pad. A different pad should be used for each stage of the polishing, otherwise the different compounds will mix and can change how they will react.

That's what I figured. I will probably get a full size orital buffer that uses bonnets then. Then get a nice Milwaukee high speed buffer too.

Yes, you should not use the same pad with the same type of product. i.e. if you use polish on this pad, then don't use it to apply wax. If you use a heavy compound on this pad, then don't use it to apply a swirl remover.

I don't really like orbitals that take bonnets. Bonnets seems to scratch easier. I would go with the PC. I've also talked to Heiden Industries and they said they carry a dewalt DA buffer. I didn't know they made one so next week I plan on going over there to check it out.

You can get pads for the PC from griots and Classic Motoring accessories. I actually just bought CMA's PC pad kit and if I end up getting the dewalt and it doesn't take the pads I'll have the kit up for sale. Pads have been out of the shipping box for a total of like 5mins so they are brand new still.

Milwaukee is a nice buffer but it is heavy! I would check out either the Dewalt Rotary or the Makita 9227C rotary. I've got the makita rotary and love it!

I ordered the new Porter Cable buffer from Coastal tools tonight. I got 2 extra foam polishing pads and 2 of the wool buffing pads. The the Lightning, wife's car, and the boat, I think that will cover it all.
Will let you know how I like it next weekend......time for a thorough Lightning wax. Thinking about treating it to Zaino.

There pads are great. I'm using them with my DeWalt Dual-Action. I'm probably going to end up ordering some more white and yellow pads. I love them!

Hey Ironman:
I bought my pads through Classic for my Cyclo Buffer as well. I was able to wax and buff my SuperCrew in 1hour 15min! The white foam pads just melted the wax right into the paint and made a nice smooth covering.
BUT, I also bought the microfiber buffs just to try them. The reviews on them were not believeable until I tried them! Bought 3 pairs figuring that is what it would take to buff out the entire truck because of clogging up with wax. I ended up only using one pair for the whole truck. They never loaded up with wax and the finish only required me to wipe off the fine dust of the wax. I 've never seen buffs do that, so I am sold on the microfiber. They sell them for the Porter Cable and the Cyclo at Classic and at Griots. They give a tip that you need to put the micro buffs on over the lambswool and they are right.
Microfiber is the way to finish I am sold!
