Question Badges

From what I have heard on this board, the F-150 badges have holes in the metal where they go. But when I called the dealer, (for a new set to acitone) they said it was double sided tape. Wich one is correct, and is there anything I need to know in doing the swaping process (like pulling them off or putting them on) any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Phillip

Thumbs up

They have pins, and double sided tape. The tape is to hold it on, and the pins are to align them. It is a PITA to get the factory emblems off, I've found that some sticker removal spray works well. Also, you can use some strong string or fishing line to cut through the double sided tape. I never have been able to salvage any emblem off my truck. They all ended up bending or cracking on me. Make sure the sticker removal solution is not harmful to the paint, though!!,,,,,98

Definitely holes!!!

All badges on the F150 have holes underneath to keep the badge alignment consistent. The badge itself is held on with double-sided tape.

Here is a photo of the oval on the tailgate

I used 20# fishing line to get the front fender badges off. It took a while but they came off in one piece. Go to the parts counter at a ford dealership and ask to see a fender badge. Look at the location for the pins so when you remove yours you will know when the fishing line doesn't seem to go any further, that you have hit a pin.

I removed the fender badges. Added side turn signal markers and am working on custom badges now. I will post pictures when it is all done.
