I give up, thats what i did....

I used Meguiar's scratch X and it did ok, but the only way i figure on getting the rest out is taking it to a professional.

Swirl marks are the devils work!!!!

Meguiar's also makes a mild polish called #9 Swirl Remover, it's from their Mirror Glaze line. It does a pretty good job.

Yeah, what Indyfan wrote. All of the Mirror glaze line do a great job. The #2 fine cut cleaner, the #5 new car glaze and the hi-tech yellow wax are a good place to start. The only thing different a so called "pro" will do, is maybe adding a high speed buffer with a foam pad.

Go find a pro. I've used most of the products mentioned and although they work OK, a professional detailer is worth the bucks in a case like this.

Thanks for all of your help. I will try out those products because i can afford those. I would have my truck painted and fixed up before I go to a professional. Thanks again

my tailgate had some swirl marks on it. I tried to wax it but it didn't work. I then claybared it heavily to make sure that I got as much wax off as I could. Then I used some 3m swirl mark remover and put about 3 coats of that stuff on and then used 3M liquid wax. took care of the problem.

Cool

Personally, I would use the following:

1. 3M adhesive remover: Wipe affected area with this to remove any contaminents and wax/polish so you are starting with a clean area. Denatured alcohol works very well also.

2. 3M hand Glaze: Available at any auto paint supplier. Specifically designed to remove the swirl marks/light scratches, works very well

3. wax

Next time you wax it add a little corn starch to the cloth.

Cool Micro Marring

That is the correct term for the condition you are discussing.

Swirls, light scratches etc.

The new 1K Plus clears are much more prone to this condition than the older 2K clears or even the 1K clears.

The change was made in order to reduce the "etching" of the clears, but due to the chemistry of the change, the clear marrs more easily.

If you wish to see and read a full two part technical trade journal article on Swirls, Marring, etc, the how to and how not to, go to
www.autoint.com and click on the Magazine Articles Section.

Additionally, there is a Tech Tips Section, with many photos and text regarding paint concerns, how a new vehicle has its paint system applied etc.

Under the OEM/TSB Section is the Ford Tech Tips that are normally only available to Ford Dealers on their secure website.

www.zainobros.com

I have used Z1, Z5, and Z6 (and z7 wash). got all the swirls out of my black truck, have 4 coats on now and will be adding more. soon will switch from z5 to z2. the stuff is amazing, and really isn't hard to do at all. I use the z18 clay bar before starting the process.

regards,
Wes

Cool What causes them?

In the previously mentioned articles under the Magazine Articles Section at www.autoint.com are all the reasons, how they get there, etc.
