removing door moldings...

hey all,

i just purchased a white '97 f-150 XLT. On the doors it has white molding with chrome on it. I'd really like to remove these (I prefer the look without them). I'm pretty sure that they are just glued or stuck on there.... is there a good way to remove them? I could probably just pull them off, but it would leave a big mess of sticky residue. Any advice on how to remove this? A special solvent? Will it mess up the paint where the moldings were?

thanks,
sal

Heat the moulding with a blow dryer with the hottest setting for about 5 minutes, then use fishing line to assist in removing the moulding. Any residue can be removed with WD 40. It will NOT hurt the paint. Wash and wax when finished.
