Question Hood paint

Hey all..

Question about the hood.. I know its fiberglass and all, BUT... Recently I noticed that it is getting a kindof 'sandpaper' feel to it. The rest of the truck has a smooth finish, but even washing the hood it sounds like I am rubbing two sheets of paper together or something. Just wondering if this is because it is fiberglass under there or whats going on. 3k miles on the truck to date.. How often is it safe to put a coat of wax on there, and can it be done with the truck being so new and all? Or is it like this for everyone else too?? Thanx

Lets see,

1. the hood is aluminum

2. You can wax it right away, no waiting time needed

3. SOunds like you have airborne contaminants on your hood, trying claying it before you wax it. The clay will remove the impurities

Question

Thanks harleyrules...

I didn't realize that the hood is aluminum... my bad. I figured since it wasn't magnetic that it was fiberglass, ah well.

Anyways.. how do I 'clay' the hood? Never heard of that before. Anything special to this? Thanx
