Removing "F150" fender/tailgate emblems?

How do you remove the standard "F150/XLT" emblems from fender and tailgate? Do they have pegs as well as the emblem-back stickum? Do I need to get inside the fender/tailgate? I want to replace them with the HarleyDavidson/F150 emblems. How do you get rid of the residue - if any - from the adhesive? I heard somewhere WD40 - will that damage the paint?
Thanks.

I just took off the tailgate emblem on my truck the other day. The best way to do it is with some fishing line, just use it like a saw between the emblem and the truck to cut the sticky stuff. You don't have to get inside the fenders or the tailgate. WD-40 will not hurt your paint, but it will probably remove any wax you have on it, so you will have to re-wax the area that you use it on.

The F150 emblems have large pegs. The logo on the gate does too, but not as
large. Use "Goo-Gone" to remove the stickum. WD40 works, but takes much
longer. The fishing line works great to remove the emblems. I used 40-lb test
line, working it like SilverFlare said. It's easiest if you hold it like you do dental
floss.......wrap your fingers a couple times with it first, then saw. Gloves are
a good idea.

Regarding the pegs, are they just placed in the holes, or is there a clip inside the fender/tailgate to hold the pegs in place? Do you either/any of you happen to know if the holes for the HarleyDavidson/F150 are in the same location as the holes for the F150/XLT?
Thanks again.

The pegs are just used to align the emblem when its put on, I guess, because they just fit in the hole (rather loosely, actually).
The Harley emblems should work, because I believe they use the same parts (fenders) on all the F-150's.

Try dental floss. The wax makes it slide through a little easier than mono fishing line.
