Engine Cleaner
I need something to clean my engine. The best thing I've used is Simple Green and a brush but I want to get the intake manifold back to its brite alloy color, any Ideas would help.

Does anybody know what the used car dealers use to shine up the engine compartment??
I have seen them spraying it before, some kind of clearcoat type stuff, but it does eventually come off.

Try Armor-all multi purpose cleaner. It cleases real nice and leaves a nice shine. Just don't spray on the wiper cowl. All you do is spray it on let it sit a few minutes and hose it off. -steve

Avoid like the plague any harsh cleaners -- even ones available at grocery and ordinary retail stores -- in your engine compartment. I learned from a bad experience a few years back that this can have expensive consequences!

I use the "engine gloss" from Griot's Garage (www.griotsgarage.com) it puts a clearcoat on whatever you spray it on. I just wipe my engine's down with a damp rag and they look perfect again.

These pics were taken almost a year apart. Still nice and shiny...
