Sometimes when I start my truck the dome light does not go off and the door ajar light stays on. The door is definatly closed. When the truck reaches 15mph the dome light automatically goes off, but the door ajar light stays on. Sometimes it will stay on for 1 min, sometimes for 20 min. or more. When it goes off, the doors automatically lock and everything is fine. Then again, sometimes it doesnt happen at all. Any Suggestions?

Also. Passenger side window sticks at one point while going down. Any suggestions?

Recently i had this problem arrise in my truck. When i would shut either door the sensor would not recognize the door was shut until about 30 seconds passed and then finally the dinger would shut off.
Well i was stumped!!! So i went over to my grandfathers house "former navy engineer" and he took out some WD40 sprayed the inside latching mechanism on the door and BINGO!
The instant i shut the door it turns off instantly! My grandfather asked when it starting doing this i said a few days ago when it was raining, so what we think happend was water got inside it and the sensor wasnt making contact. Thanks to good old WD40 its gone!

I had the same problem on my 97 F-150 XLT. Door ajar light would not go off nor would the inside dome light or the outside light. Same solution, a little spray of WD-40 in the door locking mechinism fixed it.

 

I had the same problem and it still happens every 6 months. The service manager at my local dealership used contact cleaner, because the WD-40 attracted dirt. I live in a very dust enviroment though, so maybe it wouldnt be a problem in a different location.
