Cleaning Brushed Aluminum...

I'm a new member and just bought an F-150 Platinum, what do you use to clean the brushed aluminum? Also, tar go on truck and after cleaning it I noticed it had left brown stains. How do I remove those? Thanks

First of all, welcome to the site. Hopefully you'll find lots of good information here. And congratulations on your new truck too!

As to your questions, treat the brushed aluminum just like any painted surface. A good automotive car wash soap properly mixed with water should keep it clean. Do not use metal polishes on it though as they will damage the surface.

For the road tar, a gentle application of a Bug & Tar remover approved for use on clear coat paints should take it off. You should follow this with an application of a good wax or sealant to protect the surface though.

For more information on caring for your new truck, check the detailing sticky at the top of this forum.
