New Paint Care?

So I'll be dropping my baby off in a few days to get a new paint job...I'm spending alot of cash and want the paint to look the best it can for as long as it can. I've read the stickies and searched around and am still a little confused on one thing. The paint is going to be brand new so it wont have any scratches, blimishes, or swirl marks so what to do? Do i just wash and wax it? Wash, polish, then wax? Not only does it seem as though this is a fairly unique situation, but i also am a noob when it comes to detailing and paint care. I've always just washed and slapt some wax on then called it a day, after doing my research i've realized that how i was "taking care of my paint" was actually probably hurting it lol im willing to spend alot of time on it, i just need some guidance lol please advice. Also, i've read that polishing/waxing your car too soon after a re-paint can be a bad thing??? I cant seem to find a lot of information on the topic...Any info is better than mine when it comes to this sort of stuff

It would be wise to wait 90 days for the paint to fully cure.

For care, have you read the Detailing Sticky yet? It's a few years old, but the principles and techniques in it haven't changed, just the products.

Talk to the shop and ask them how long you need to wait to wash and wax and follow their recommendations on timing.
