Post Floor Mats

I have a 1997 F-150 XLT with a driver's side floor mat that "attaches" to the floor. At the risk of sounding really stupid - How do you "unlock" the floor mat from the floor???

I have been cleaning the driver's side by lifting the front of the floor mat (it attaches near the seat), vacuuming under it, and then vacuuming the mat - what a pain!

Thanks for your input!

Mine is a ring on the floor mat that hooks over a hook on the floor.

Just lift the back of the ring straight up above the hook and pull the mat to towards the back of the cab and off the hook.

Hopes this helps.

Thanks for the input - but that's not how mine attaches. I had a Cobra that the floor mats attached like that.

This is something different that I've never seen before. It's almost like you have to have a special key to put into the floor mat and then turn it to get the mat off the floor. I've tried everything, short of cutting the plastic to remove it. I just know it's something so simple that I'm overlooking it.

Thanks!

Is it a round plastic piece with what looks like a screwdriver slot in the middle? If it does just take screwdriver and put it in the slot, and put your hand under the mat with the round plastic piece between your middle and index fingers. While you're pushing down with the screwdriver lift up with your hand, it should come apart in two pieces.
OOORRRRR.
Lift the corner of the carpet and with an even bigger screwdriver pry the two pieces apart like you would open a can of paint (with a twisting motion of the screwdriver). The part that stays on the floor is actually "screwed" into the carpet. The two pieces should click back together, good luck!

Indyfan is right. My factory mat has a screw in attachment to the floor and the mat snapped into it. Just pull straight up to release. Mine worked this way until it broke.

Thanks a bunch for your input! I will try this when I get home to see if it works. It does look like a slot for a screwdriver, but I assumed that I needed to turn it to remove the mat - I never tried just pulling on it. I was afraid I would break it!

Thanks again!
