is this a good deal? or should i buy the PC separate and get the pads elsewhere? |
That's what I got a few years ago and haven't had any problems with the pads. Although they're gettin worn out and the dog got a hold of a few of them so it's about time for new ones.

Same kit I bought that started me on the whole detailing thing. Great kit and I thought it was a reasonable price.
I also found Autogeek very nice to deal with and they shipped the stuff out to me pretty quick. Go for it:rocker: |
I'd suggest this http://www.tools-plus.com/porter-cable-7424xp-m1.html A little more for your money. But go with what you want

I personally wouldn't go with either of those kits. The 6.5" pads work, but smaller pads work better with the PC.
|
thanks guys, that link you have MRLSU2U seems like a good deal also. i see it has a cutting compound and finish polish. could i use those for a average "need a polish" paint? it has its normal water marks and some other imperfections, nothing drastic. then just buy my own wax?

Smaller pads will give you more rpms (power) and flexibility so whatever kit you get if you are going to get serious...save time and additional shipping and get a smaller 3.5 backing plate and a few 4" pads. The detailing Rabbit Hole is deep. Good luck! |
so should i find a "kit" with 5.5 inch pads? will they be okay for the size? do i need 4 inch?
or should i buy just eh PC and order a set of 5.5 pads and a 4 inch? you guys are confusing me with these pads...LOL please break it down for a NOOB? o yeah, and links are my friend!;) |
is this a better kit? then buy the 105 and 205 seperate?
im looking for the "best bang for the buck" kit. http://www.autogeek.net/porter-cable-pad-kit.html this one has 7 pads for the same price. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.ne...4xp-kit-2.html |
If you call Rick at ADS, he can advise you and put a custom kit together for you. You don't have to take exactly what's listed.
|
so i havent placed my order yet due to lack of cash, but im ready now. i did a little more research and found this:
http://www.detailedimage.com/DI-Pack...medium=organic are 4 inch pads to small or is this going to be OK? i bought a clay kit and NXT 2.0 so im just about ready for this! my OCD is getting an itch...HA! |
I think they might be too small, unless you also buy a smaller backing plate.
|
im not sure i follow? it comes with a backing plate made for the 4inch pads?
if its to small, whats the ideal size im looking for? granted you only have so much of a flat surface and many curved surfaces, i figured this might do the trick no? |
Yes, that kit comes with a 4 inch backing plate and 4 inch pads.
