Cleaner/wax?
I have been checking out waxes for my new truck and noticed alot of "Cleaner/waxes". What concerns me is "Cleaner", is this safe for a new truck?

Yes it is...but check on the label to make sure it says 'safe for all finishes' or 'clear coat safe'. The May 2000 issue of Consumer Reports (p. 51) has a nice review of 25 or so wax products that are currently on the market. Some certainly did better than others.
I recently switched over to the ZYMOL cleaner wax and it is, without a doubt, the best wax I have used yet. I also use the Meguiars Polish before waxing to sort of prep the surface. I am very careful (****) about keeping my vehicles in like-new condition....and I am more than impressed with the cleaner wax from Zymol. It also has a swirl reducer/minor scratch ingrediant mixed in...however..it is relatively expensive at $13.00 or more per bottle.....but worth it.

I know $13 sounds like a lot for a bottle of wax, but when I worked a Wally World a few years (9 to be exact) ago, Zymol was $20 a bottle. I plan to try it next, when I run out of Mothers and Meguiars.

Re Zymol
I'm planning to change (based on the opinions here and in Consumer Reports) to Zymol cleaner/wax from Turtle wax 2001. Do I just have to wash it first or is there some basic incompatability between the synthetic Turtle Wax and Zymol. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I would hate to have a mess to clean up.

There is no question http://www.zainobros.com if you want the best. If nothing else read the "Tips and tricks" section to learn how to apply wax properly. It make a difference even with the lesser quality waxes. My Lightning gets the Zaino, but the Taurus gets Mequiars.

The way to achieve the very best looking finish is to go with the clay bar first to remove all fine dirt and oxidation. then use Meguiars polish( best polish you can by. Then use the Zymol after. This will take a really long time but it is extremely worth it. Once you put the zymol wax on you can get away with only putting on the polish to reduce swirls and produce the nicest shine. for at least 2-3 months because eventually you wear the wax off with the polish.
