Post Headlight changing

From what I heard in Europe, they change their headlights every year. It has something to do with maintaining the performance of the light because over time the lights lose some of their kick. I also think it would be a good idea since I hate driving near people with only one headlight because you can never get a clear view of how close they are or if they can see what ever they need to.

I'll bet you'll change your mind after "attempting" to change the drivers side headlight. It's not fun!

Thumbs down

I know what you mean. Could Ford have made it any harder to replace a simple bulb on the driver's side? Getting the light out was bad enough, trying to put it back in while lining up those bolts, etc was a pain in the ****. At least on the passenger side you can get to the bulb from behind.

If they just would give you a couple more inches of wire on the harness it would be easy but I know what you are talking about.

I guess I need to look at the drivers side light to see how much of a pain it is to change.

Cool

I just went through this major pain installing my fog light kit. I removed the air filter housing and took the bolts out of the coolant resevoir so it could be moved back. This way you can do it from the back. What about that park/turn signal bulb, I could not even get to the plug for that.

I have changed my bulbs, thought it was the easiest thing to do. All you have to do is pull up on the two tabs ont top of the light assembly and out they came.,.....HUH, maybe I did it wrong, but it was easy

I did not have a problem getting the headlight assembly out. It was a pain in the neck to get it back in because the bolts move all over. Luckily you can change the passenger side one without taking out the whole headlight.

I must be missing something. I replaced bulbs on my '97 and it was a piece of cake.
You pull the tabs...slide the whole assembly out the front. Take the bulb out. Replace. Reconnect and slide the whole assembly back in. Really that easy.....did I miss something??

There are two thin upside down "L" shaped tabs at the top of the lights. one next to the fender the other on the other side of the light. They are kinda stiff, pull hard. When you do you will hear a pop. Then push the light out. the hardest thing is lining up the retainers when you slide them in. Do it straight and you will have no problems!!

I just noticed today that my front driverside turn signal bulb was burnt out. I opened the hood and it looked like a pain in the a$$ to change. After reading these posts, I am thinking of having the dealer change it since they will have the truck for other warranty issues. That is if they will cover a burned out blinker bulb as a warranty problem.
