Question about Rain-X
I applied Rain-X to my truck yesterday. Took forever to get the stuff buffed off.
Was damp out this morning and when I turned on the wipers, my windshield looks all smeared from the wiper blades. After it dried, I can't tell it is on there. Visibility was not too good on the way to work with the smeared windshield. What did I do wrong?

Hey guys, I used to use Rain-x as well and it's a good product. Although I don't use it anymore because I found a little trick, for me anyway. I use Zainobros polish on my paint and some one said that you can put it on you glass as well. I did this and it rained over the weekend and the rain beaded up on my glass like rain-x would do. Works for me.
Hope this helps

I was raised watching my dad wax the windshield so I never knew that people normally don't do that until my friends laughed at me for doing it one day!! So I second guessed my dad and stopped doing it, until the next time I waxed my truck. Waxing the windshiel really does work pretty good, although I'm a RainX user myself!!

I used to use Rain-X all the time. Application was not too much fun, but the results made it worth it. It was only effective for a week or so.
About a week ago, my wife got me some rain-X "bug remover windshield washer fluid" from Wal-mart. It works better than the other rain-X. There's no effort to apply it
and it's only $2-something a gallon. It's fun driving in the pouring rain without using the wipers.
I was getting real frusrated with al the mosquito bodies, but now very few stick, and those that do are easily removed with an oz or two of washer fluid.
This stuff is really cool, and I'd pay $10 a gallon for it right now.

Kenster - My first experience with Rain-X was just as you described, but I found out on a rainy night! Smear City! What I did wrong, was I put it on too thick. Didn't think so when I did it, I thought I had put it on "Sparingly", but that is what was wrong. When the water dried off, the winshield was clean, so I buffed it again, and cleaned off the wiper blades real good also. Was fine after that. I learned a little bit of that stuff goes a LONG LONG WAY!
