?'s on waxing
4byford. If your paint feels like silk after polishing then you shouldn't need the clay. However, if your paint has an "abrasive" feel to it the clay will take care of that. It won't help the shine, that's what polishes and waxes are for, and if you're careful with it you won't adversely affect the clearcoat.
I don't believe you have to wax every week, expecially with Zymol. On a car/truck that stays outside all the time wax lasts about 3 to 4 weeks.
Also, if it's painted, I wax it.

Thats what I thought Indyfan. I don't wax my truck every week (finally got out of that stage). I love the zymoil. Do you do the water spray trick? As described on the bottle.

Actually I don't use Zymol, but Consumer Reports gave it a top rating a few years ago. I've seen that water spray trick suggested by some other waxes too but I've never done it.
I use Zaino on my truck and Meguiar's on my customer's cars.

I just received a calalog from the link below. Great products in there. I am going to buy their 12mil thick clear plastic film to my new hood to protect the it from stone chips. The air compressor is my next present, (Honey, are you reading this?) :-)

Griot's garage also carries a real sheepskin wash mitt. I bought one, and it's top quality. Sure beats those synthetic knock-offs you see in the stores that matt up after a couple of uses..............

Wow selva1,
fantastic web-site! When it all loaded up, the shine on that Flairside 'bout put my eyes out!
Do you do any towing with your machine (I couldn't tell from the pics if you had a hitch/receiver)?
I think it's time to buy a sheepskin mitt, everyone sure seems to like them...

F250NUT:
Thanks so much for the compliments. I credit the shine to new paint (pics were taken within days of taking delivery)and the Zaino Product line. time will tell if both hold up. As for towing, I sure plan to. I ordered the truck with the Class III hitch, but haven't had the chance to use it yet. I'd like to tow my 65 Galaxie to some shows this summer, just to get some experience with a trailer.

Well I took everyones (well almost everyones) and did the wash/dry/shine/wax bit today. Wow!! I used Meguirs #7 for the polish and #26 for the wax. I'm happy. It still doesn't look as good as selva1's but real close.
Oh - my achin' arms.
Thanks everyone for the pointers on cleaning. Incidently, I used to use the Blue Coral clean/wax treatment on my 1970 429 SCJ Spoiler, and this brings back good memories.
