Even easier - you can use Ultimate Quik Wax for the second coat.

What clay are you using and can you show some photos of the spots you are working on?

Close up if you can.

Another thing to watch out for is how the spots got there. (Again, pics would help.) Many people get a really bad case of reddish / rust colored spots down the side of a vehicle after they go too far on a set of brakes and get to "metal on metal." So, what's actually on the side of the vehicle in this case is imbedded particles of metal - hot metal when it went in I might add. These particles then rust and you see the staining effect.

My neighbor has a black GMC 3500 with this very effect. Lightly running you fingertip down the side of his truck is like running it down 220 grit sandpaper. It's downright scary. He asked me to detail it to get the mess out and I have said I'm too busy rearranging my sock drawer for now.

If this happened to your car, beware. Clay doesn't do much good here because of the severity of the problem - and the fact that the particles are somewhat melted into the surface. The only real thing that will get this kind of contamination out is a paint decontamination kit that actually uses acid (and a neutralizer) to dissolve the particles. I hope this isn't your problem.

I wonder if Beechkid has used acid? That would explain a few things ...

That's exactly what Beechkid uses instead of clay.

Yupper! And as has already been said, this stuff - since it dissolves metal - can be very dangerous. Clay is pretty hard to do damage with.

cleaning protocol...

1. Turtle Wax ICE Car Wash or Meg's Gold Class Wash & Conditioner
2. Meg's Clay Bar kit (to remove surface contaminent's - environmental fall out, brake dust, exhaust contaminents from aircraft, acidic rain, bug guts, pollen, sap)
3. Meg's Ultimate Compound (below surface-best with DA polisher)
4. Meg's Scratch X 2.0 (best with DA polisher)
5. Meg's NXT 2.0 Wax (best with DA polisher)
6. Turtle Wax ICE Spray Detailer or Meg's Ultimate Quick Detailer

The above work's great on my '94 White Lightning, '02 Min. Gray GT and Blue '07 STX.
