Learned a lot from here
Learned a lot from here
I just got my new F-150 in Razr Red and until now my knowledge of detailing was a bottle of Green Liquid Turtle Wax that I got for $1.50 at Big Lots and a soaking wet cloth covered in Armour-all?
After scrolling through these pages and taking some advice... I must say the Tech wax is amazing stuff and the Leather CPR worked great too.
I still open both doors and use compressed air to clean the inside between vacummings though.......
Still need something to shine the tires and clean the white lettering ?
I also really like Zip Wax soap from Turtle wax but Im sure its not the best choice and leaves a white film on the black plastic?
Im almost up to speed here and if someone can point me in right direction regarding the last two dilemas that would be great!
Thanks

Use Quick Detailer and a tooth brush to get the white film off the plastic. Use Meg's Supreme shine or Hyper-dressing for plastics instead. They are not greasy and look nice. Hyper-dressing is the top choice for cost effectiveness and results.
For the tires, Westley's Bleach White works wonders and then use a non greasy product like hyper-dressing for it. Gotta get myself some hyper-dressing soon. It's water based and gives you a lot for your money

Car wash soap with wax?
Is there a car wash soap like zip wax that will keep the shine between waxings?....i like zip wax but not the white stuff from it......
I can get all Mcguires stuff at Canadian Tire but not sure where to get the other products you listed there........perhaps a weekend in Seattle is in order soon?

The Meguiar's supreme shine is available at Target, Wal mart and auto stores. Hyper-dressing needs to be ordered online. I would recommend for an over the counter soap Meguiars Shampoo and Conditioner. But remember, proper dilution is key to not stripping wax. After each wash I would hit the truck with some quick detailer as you dry (esp something like Meguiar's Ultimate QD) to retain the shine and protection longer.
i got the quick detail stuff .......will it affect the tech wax and how often should i do a complete tech wax application?
I see Canadian Tire has a sale on Autoglym stuff.....whatever that is?

Ultimate QD is what you'd use on top of NXT to maintain it.
When you need to reapply NXT depends on many conditions... how long the vehicle is left outside, the weather conditions, etc. Generally I'd reapply it every 3 months.
Personally I don't like to use harsh chemicals on tires. It removes much of the protectants built into the rubber. Also, heavy treatment attracts dirt and crap. I like to use a light spray of Hyper Dressing but many people prefer Megs All Season Dressing over HD.

I no longer do a quick detail since I started using ONR. Quick detailers are great for spot cleanups but I try not to touch the paint unless it was washed first. If you want to get back to a great shine and add alot of protection look into a spray wax. Optimum Car Wax Spray or if you want to stay within the NXT line check out:

Hyper Dressing is excellent as you can dilute to obtain the shine level you want on your trim/tires. I use it for the engine bay and wheel wells at 1:4 dilution. I started using Mother's Reflection Tire Care for the tires and like it slightly better but at a much higher cost.
