Post Cotton Towels

What does everybody else out there do with their cotton towels after waxing your truck? Is it OK to wash them and use them for waxing again or will the wax residues stay in the towels even after waxing. I'm asking because I have a bad case of the swirls and I'm following Typhoons advice in the post about swirls. I'm changing the way I wash and wax my truck and just looking for a little advice, Thanks!

Zracer,

I wash the towels in hot water with a little bleach(No Fabric Softner) and reuse them to dry and wax.

Bono is right...do not use fabric softener on your towels. The towels will not absorb as much if you add softener.

Question

I wash mine in hot water, dry and re-use.
I don't bother with the bleach. Should I?

Hmmm... Immediately after use, I toss the towels into the washer. Hot water, detergent, and bleach. Bleach not only whitens the towels, but helps cut into the wax.

I'm not too sure about the other guys just using hot water... I'm assuming they forgot to mention the detergent.

Everybody else is right. Don't use fabric softeners in the washer or the dryer.

BTW, I've been doing this for two years.

Washing and re-using the towels is fine. Just store them somewhere to keep them dust free until you're ready to use them again(fine scratches are so easy to get, so hard to remove). By the way, some fabric softeners will also leave an oily residue in the towels, leaving streaks and smears on a good finish the next time you use them.
