Sometimes I hate painted bumpers

I will have had my truck for a year at the end of April. I have at least 15 paint chips in the front bumper already. I really regret not getting the 3M clear bra put on when I first got the truck.

My dealer has a paint guy that comes in a couple times a week to touch up paint chips. Do you think I should have that done first and then get the clear bra put on?

I would get it fixed and then put the clear bra on it or strip it and get do LineX it with paint mixed in to match your truck and never worry about it again.

Heck you could have 'em sanded and powder coated too. You have a decent amount of options.

I've never heard good things about the clear bra. PTM Line-x is the way to go IMHO as it does not chip and comes with a lifetime warrenty. I actually have to sometimes point out it is Line-x not paint when people see it.

I have the feeling Line-x is going to be more than I want to spend. I also don't think my local Line-X dealer would do it. I once asked them about doing my rear fender wells and they said they would rather not because they would have to take the bed off and flip it over. I know others have had it done without taking the bed off.

I also would probably have to take the bumper off myself. I'm not sure I am up to that task. This truck is my daily driver.

It may not be as bad as you think when you consider that you may have to have th bumper painted again after the bra takes a beating for a few years.

I too have some rock chips on my bumper. I might just get the whole thing repainted and line-x. This was the only thing that kept me wondering if I should buy FX4 or not.

From everything I have seen they mix paint into the Line-X and then spray it on.

From what I have read on the Line-X site it can be color-coded to match the paint on your truck.

wisconsin- I have the White sand Xtra and I must say it is pretty close and I am very pleased with it! It's gonna need a good rinse and scrub to get some oil that has been back there for a little while that I didn't see until today.

I plan on getting my bumpers line-xed xtra ptm this summer when I might actually have some money

Called a local place that does powdercoat and they will do the front bumper for $150. I think I might get that done. It's half the price of the clear bra.

Now I just have to figure out how to get the bumper off. Probably won't get this done for another month or two. It's difficult to find a time when I can be without the truck for a day or two.

Anybody know how close the black powdercoat will match the black paint on my truck? Would I even be able to tell a difference?

I didn't realize the bra was that expensive. I would like to do something with my DSG bumper this summer, but I'm cheap so I'll just touch it up.

You know you can drive without the lower bumper right?
