Question Protectant

I have heard that water based protectants like Armor All can actually wind up harming your car. Therefore I have been using a silicone based protectant called Black Magic. It leaves a wonderful (somewhat greasy) shine. My favorite of the water based has been the Kiwi with Endust. Shiny and doesn't attract dust like the others. Any info on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Meguires now has a tire protectant that is like a liquid wax and comes with a special applicator. It's expenive (around $8 a bottle), but is supposed to last weeks, not till the first rain. I just used some last weekend, and I like that it completely dries on the tire, while staying black. This one won't attract any dirt or dust.......

SYCOHOLIC- I switched from Armor All to Black Magic also for the same reason. Black Magic works great. I haven't actually used it on the interior yet but it's the best there is for the tires. I use Simple Green on the interior, seems to work pretty well and actually leaves a good smell, almost like a new car smell. -ZRracer

Thumbs up

I used to use the black magic on the int. of my old truck ('88 f-250) and it made the dash gleam. It never caused me any problems, but the dash of my new truck is a softer compound i have not tried it there yet.

Thumbs down

I had gotten a sample of the Mequires tire protectant (black bottle) and I too found that I had to brush off the tires after coming up the driveway. Tires were pretty as long as I didn't come home I have to use the Mequires tire stuff in the red bottle, doesn't leave the tires as black but for me it's a whole lot less work.

Well, I've been trying the Meguiars in the red bottle. Works well, but I still think I prefer Black Magic. I don't think it lasts as long as the Meguiars, but it's silicone based and leaves a shinier finish. I'm gonna deep using the Meguiars until it's gone, maybe by then I may change my mind.

i have got to argue with you on the Meguiars tire protectant. it actually does attract dust, but then again i drive my truck down a dirt road almost everyday. i noticed the dust is more apparant then before when i wasn't using the product.
