Hot water.. any reason why not?

Hello I am in Kansas and happen to have a "manibloc" water system in the house (you know the one with a manifold and a separate tube to each faucet in the house). This winter I moved the outside water faucet to the "hot side" of the manifold.

- this is outstanding... my hands never get cold when I am washing at 35.. (if there is no wind)

It may be my imagination but I think it cleans easier... but my question is there any downsides to using hot water? Yes, I am careful around the windows when it is super cold. But the soap is foamier, etc..

I can't think of one except the water heating bill!

I haven't noticed any increase. If it is, it is small enough I don't notice it.

I wouldn't use scalding hot - but warm water cleans better than cold anyway. That's why the water at car washes is heated.

don't know what I will do when summertime comes around.. but by the time the hot water makes it through the hose it is just perfect.

Soaps work more effectively with warm or hot water (something about molecular bonding and suspending oils) but depending on the wax you use the only down side I can think of would be that it would shorten the life of wax surface so you would need to wax more often.

I use hot water in the bucket with the soap and mitt in the winter time also. I'm always in the garage cleaning the truck so that also helps. I do use cold water out of the hose. Micro fiber mitts do a pretty good job.

Do you guys use the high preassure wand at the car wash to blast all the salt off? I do cause I don't have access to a power washer for home use. This helps alot, hardly any dirt in the bucket when washing.

I use the high pressure wand, but set to rinse.

I use my pressure washer here at the house. I also use the hot water in the bucket thing, but I do use the cold water from the hose to rinse.
