Post Help with Waxing/Polishing - Beginner

I recently purchased a '99 F-150 XLT supercab 4x4 with the offroad package (Oxford white). I have had it for about 6 months. It sits outside and I live in Oregon so it is really exposed to the elements. Last night I put on a coat of "Rain Dance" liquid Wax with a power applicator/buffer.

Here are my questions:
* Is all I need to do to protect the paint?
* Is "Rain Dance" a quality product?
* Are there better products out there?
* Is there a difference between liquid and paste wax?
* What about car polish? Do you need to do this if you have already waxed?
* How often should do this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Patrick

I will hit on a few, Tiny is probably in the chat room but as soon as she is out she will be right here..
Paste wax is supposed to last longer than liquid, though liquid comes off easier.
A polish once a year or so is nice, I use meguire's products, show car glaze is a nice polish, then of course a coat or two of wax over that. I would wax your truck every three months, some might say that is too often. Just make sure you dont let the rain drops dry and sit on your truck too long or you will have to get some clay magic to get off the spots etc etc.

ElkTag: Is that me you're talking about???

About waxing the truck. There's a very good thread right here on what's the best wax and polish to use. After reading through the whole thing, you'll see that most of us use a variety of different products that we are mostly quite pleased with. My 02 is to wax about every month or two. I use carnuba by Royal. The stuff I have is hard/solid, like a bar of soap and I use a small wet sponge to apply it. I've never seen it in a store for sale, bought it from a detail man. I wash the truck every week with a good wash that has wax in it. And ALWAYS dry the truck off by hand. This is very important if you don't want water spots. There are plenty more products I use, for the chrome, the tires, the steps/bumpers, the inside dash/doors and the glass. Just start reading the other threads here. You'll be an expert too after you detail your truck a couple times
