bug guard stickers
Well I think I might've made a mistake this past weekend and I want to know if anyone else has done this and what their results have been. I put a GTS Omniguard SE bug deflector on. It's pretty nice, low profile, it looks really good on my black truck. Well it has like 5 of those adhesive things that stick on the paint where it sits. I was wondering if anyone else, when removing the bug guard, or these adhesive "feet" have problems with the paint afterward. I figured if it did, some rubbing compoung would fix it but I was just wondering if anyone has ever done this. :-)

On my Explorer, I stuck the rubber "feet" on the bug guard instead of the paint. It works great.

I haven't tried to take them off - Probably wouldn't be a good idea. Ya know the old saying: "Don't fix it unless it's broke"!
Seacrow: I think the reason they have the bumpers stuck on the paint is to prevent them from rubbing a hole in the paint. The bug shield doeas a lot of moving up there in the stream of air coming over the hood. I think over time those little rubber bumpers may rub through the clearcoat. Have you noticed any wear?

Deputy,
I had the deflector you mentioned. I didn't like it because it had a whistle at high speed and because of the dual lock fasteners.
I removed them with great care and a little alcohol and a lot of care.
Good Luck

I have removed my bug guard on three occasions, including those little sticky things, and have not damaged my paint at all.
They're stuck on there pretty good but they peel up with a bit of patience and don't leave any marks.

Well thanks for all the input. I think I might just try some alcohol, along with some cleaner, compound, and a good wax when I take it off. Which won't be for a while, but I needed some piece of mind :-)
I had a 1993 Lightning that I bought used. The guy that had it before me installed a bug gaurd and but the rubber bumpers on the gaurd . It wore through the paint, just be carefull and watch out if you place the stoppers on the gaurd itself.
