Megs #16

Been away from the game for a while, but I noticed that ADS now sells #16. I thought that it was illegal in the states. To think back about what some people went through to get their hands on that stuff, and now see it readily available... Also, people paid way more back a year ago, now ADS has it for $12.99.

I know everyone has their opinions on this wax, but it is funny to see this change in availability.

He must have sold out in the last few hours then. It said limited quantities earlier...

Just thought it was odd with the VOC and all.

I have yet to confirm it but, I'm thinking that Meg's revived this product - in a low VOC format of course.

While Meg's site doesn't have any additional data, I don't think that this much 'stock' has just popped up as found in the corner of a warehouse. Further, the old #16 was blue; it appears to me that the new stuff we're seeing is white. Not sure if that means much but, I have a hunch that we're seeing the result of a new run on the product as it REALLY is a great carnauba paste wax -- my favorite, in fact.

Hey Rp,
I was wondering the same thing. I remember when some of the guys showed tins that were either white or a peach shade. All of the tins I have from way back when are blue.

Just thought it was funny, since I remember so many members here and on other forums paying top $$ for a tin to try.

It is my favorite as well. It looks great on my black Lariat ...

Thanks again,

Actually there was a huge thread on MOL several month’s ago (if you did not see it) regarding the great deal that some people were getting on M16 from a seller on Ebay. The seller has sold hundreds, who know's maybe even more than 1,000 tins of Meguiar’s #16 by now. Some people were buying 20 tins or more of the stuff at a time. In fact I just looked and the seller is still selling them. Supposedly the seller acquired this large amount of M16 as well as a lot of other Meguiar’s products after buying a warehouse full of stuff. Anyway I ended up buying 3 tins of M16 from the seller for a total of $14 several months ago. Around the same time that everyone was jumping on this great deal is when the tins of M16 started showing up for sale at ADS. So I wonder if Rick may have bought some from the same ebay seller and was then re-selling them because he knows how many people still want this great wax.

I don't know for sure that is where he got them, but that is where I am guessing they may have came from.

Here are the 3 tins that I bought.

As far as the color of the wax goes. One of my tins was a blue color and the other two tins were a purple color.

In short, it’s an old school hard carnauba wax that has been around since the early 1950’s. A lot of people like it because of its great beading and good durability. You have to apply it really thin though or it can be a bear to remove. I also think the fact that it was discontinued also adds to its desirability.

John, #16 is a great product and I have 6 tins but it is also a royal pain in if you apply it to thick. You can get similar results with other waxes my favorite that works best for me is Collinte 845 with Wet Obsession over it.

There was a big discussion somewhere about the colors of #16. I believe the official word was that the color meant nothing. Just certain batches had slightly different shades but it was all the same. I have 3 tins and I almost never use the stuff. For me, it's just too much of a pain if you get carried away and just not worth the extra effort.
