bloody lab
bloody lab
I have a an 06 KR f-250. My lab jumped in the other day for a ride and tore a toenail out from his paw on the way in to the cab. Needless to say i had a bloody mess. It was about 30 seconds of him thrashing around the cab untill i could get him out. Needless to day he made a bloody mess. The seats are anoline leahter and the blood stained the hell out of them. I have not attempted to clean the seats yet. I am concerned with screwing up this leather. I have the KR conditioner, but i'm not really ready for conditioning at this point. Can anyone tell me what to do with the blood?
You might cross post this in the KingRanch section of the site. There's several of those guys that are experienced in dealing with that leather. It can be a pita to get clean. I'm not really sure even where to start with something strong enough to get blood but easy enough to not damage the look of the leather.
I clean the one I take care of with mild soap and hot water but that's normally just dealing with oils and dirt.

Whatever you do, don't apply anything hot - it will set the stain. Start with plain cold water, then try a little saddle soap. Also, sorry to hear about your Lab - I know he has a very sore paw.
x2 DO NOT use anything hot, start out with cold water and a good rag and scrub it real good let it dry and then use a little kiwi saddle soap and it should come out after a few try's, The saddle soap will dry the seats out but put on a few layers of conditioner on and should bring them back, i had to use saddle soap to get Dr Pepper stains out and it worked real good, Alot of the KR guys will tell you not to use the saddle soap but with blood it will be your best bet. Good luck and check out the KR forum and there will be alot on cleaning the seats.
You might want to ask this question on a detail forum. Here is a great one with a ton of information: http://www.autopia.org/
I don't know about leather, but hydrogen peroxide is great for getting blood out of clothes, it just attacks and eats the blood. I have used it for years this way and never had it affect the material the clothes were made of, but use at your own risk, maybe test a spot under the seat where it can't be seen?
