7424 vs 7424XP

I decided I may go with the PC over the G110. The price is pretty good for the original PC but I don't know if the 7424XP will be that much better. I just want to get some opinions. My previous experience is only with hand applications.

The new PC is supposed to be a good machine. The jury is still out on how long it will last since it hasn't been out that long but Porter Cable is known for having some good machines. The XP is more powerful than the G110 which is more powerful than the 7424.

ESF is exactly correct... Plus, I concur with the others in that I'm not sure you could go wrong with any of them.

In order though, it'd be xp, 7424, g110 for me. Another machine that you should maybe consider is the Flex.

For the record, my order would be the same as RPs. Seems to be too many horror stories out there with the G110. Plus I like my 7424. I hope to pick up an XP shortly.

My order would be the Flex, XP, G110, 7424. Instead of stepping up to the Flex, just spend the money and do it right the first time.
The Flex weight wise feels the same as the G110 and the 7424 but is nearly 2X as powerful so you do half the work in half the time.
Even if your vehicle's paint is in good shape...what if you work on someones vehicle that is not? So much time, energy and polish....
If you end up like me wanting more you will spend nearly $440 in buffing machines in less than 6 months into serious detailing.

I have used and abused the hell out of my G110 with no problems. As a novice I was using too much pressure, then not enough but running the machine for hours and max speed. It's been dropped on concrete 3 times from seat and floor height in my truck and once off the trash can....it even got rained on....and it has never missed a beat.

I just got one of these,

but I will probably still favor my G110 for light work once I get my paint right since you can almost never hurt your paint with it.
