Chrome paint?

The chromed plastic grille surround and gray plastic insert on my 2000 F150 look pretty worn and faded. I've heard good things about Krylon Fusion paint for plastics and I'm thinking satin black would look good on the insert.

Has anyone tried painting their grille surround with chrome spray paint? Does it look like the original chrome plating? Would I need to sand and prime before painting, and clear coat after spraying with chrome?

Any advice will be appreciated. Money's a little tight right now, or I'd just buy a new replacement surround.

M105 followed by PlastX does a great job on the insert.

The only realistic chrome paint Ive ever seen is made by Alsacorp and even that doesnt shine like 100% chrome, since its a process, you cant achieve it out of a spraycan.

I emailed and got samples from Alsacorp a few years back when I was deciding on paint for my showcar. They have some crazy paints but hella expensive.

Id opt for a new surround instead of wasting time on a faded one.
