Did Some Detailing Today (Used Peanut Butter Too)

These were the tools used today. Basically, I only used Poli Seal. Unfortunately I didn't get any before pics of the swirls, but the Poli Seal did a great job. The tailgate was pretty bad so I went over it about 6 times.
BTW, the Pledge bottle is just water I used to spray the pad.

Looks good, you have inspired me so much that I plan to visit the touchless car wash at Esso tonight.

Dunno why I keep doing that, but I went back and changed it before I saw your comment

Like you, I know the difference between opti-seal and poli-seal but not thinking I always type the wrong one. I was just happy to point someone elses out finally.

My apologies. It's boatrepair, not boataddict.

Yeah, that cowl definitely looks better than it has in a long time. If that does indeed last for months, that'll be an added bonus. Thanks for the suggestion.

I wish I had taken pictures of it before the polish, but one thing I discovered as a first time user of a machine; and that's that lighting is VERY important to get the best possible job done. I really couldn't even get a good pic of the before swirls if I tried without some decent light.
There are definitely a few spots where the Poli Seal won't cut it and I'll have to try something with a bit more cut.

My buddy has a bottle of Scratch X he isn't using. Will that work well with a DA, anyone? I'd like to stick with the green CCS pads I have now if at all possible. They have more cut than a white pad, but less than orange. It's a middle of the line polish and finishing pad.

Looks great, a few things:

1. Don't forget the wheel wells
2. The PB trick will be very temporary, the oils are why it works. You will want to use something BlackWow to have a longer lasting look.

Again, nice job.

Yeah, I didn't do the wheel wells (well, I did a few days ago but lots of rain), but normally I do with a few shots of Simple Green and a hose.

I had a feeling I'd hear about those wheel wells from you, honestly.

RR, you should have some advice as to what would work best for me on a green pad to fix scratches. Scratch X?

I believe original ScratchX should be used by hand but 2.0 can be used with a machine.

Just remember, it's not called washing, it's called detailing.

Poli-Seal isn't really going to do much correction. It's really hard to tell you want to try next without seeing it under the lights or the sun. If you can get that, we'd give you a better answer for the plan of attack.
