Claybar

Hey everyone, I would like to claybar my truck. Never done it before and I need to know what the best kit is for the money. I know all of y'all detail a lot. So that being said, which kit to buy and aggressiveness? Also, will it remove spots on windows? Thanks in advance.

grab the Mequiar's, Mother's or Clay Magic kit from an auto parts store ..

all three are basically the same thing. stay with Mild .. no need for an agressive clay for the average DIY guy or gal.

Most everyone is going to tell you that without pics of your truck its imposible to tell. Do you need paint correction, swirl removal etc. when was the last time it was detailed etc.

The best bet is to go with the least aggressive products first. If that doesnt do what you want, step up to the next aggressive etc.

If your paint needs work, and you have said you never did this before, a cheaper in the long run option is to have your truck detailed by a professional to correct things, then get yourself a PC and do the maintenance to keep it looking prestine

as for the windows, i prefer the window glaze from zanio, goes on like wax and I remove it with a PC, its very dusty but gets the job done on those winshields that have some stuborn spots.

I was at Parts America today, and they have a sale going on this week for 25% off Mothers Clay Bar. One thing to look for is that some of the boxes have 2 clay bars and some only have 1. For $12 you get 2 claybars, lubricant, and a microfiber cloth.

It's my understanding that claybars are pretty much the same since Clay Magic owns the patent on it. I mean between companies and not between levels of aggressiveness. Anyone know if that's true?

Just keep in mind that the clay bar is not going to correct any paint issues it just removed debre stuck in your clear coat. If you turn your hand palm up and put it in a zip lock bag run it over your paint and feel it . If you have lots of little bumps then thats is what the clay bar is for. Make sure to use the spary any ware you are goign to clay and keep it wet. Then when your done run your hand palm side up in zip lock bag and feel difference. I had to use it the other day, droping kid off at baby siters some dumb a$$ spilled green paint over the enitre road to get to the baby sitter and it dried before i could get to car wash to clean it. clay bar took it right off with out damaging paint.

yep, the company autowax is the manufacturer. They have seven patents on it. Actually it was developed in Japan.

hope your not serious about not having a clear coat...

but yeah any kit would work from autozone or napa... just be ready to set aside a few hours, and to get a sore arm.

once your done claybaring, you still have to wax.

im still waiting another month before i do mine.
