claying for first time
I'm actually traveling out to Staunton, VA to clean my truck. My parents retired out there; my Dad has a pretty big garage. They're calling for 50% chance of rain too. Hoping that will change b/w now and this weekend.
I live in Hampton so I hit the one in Yorktown at the corner of Victory Blvd and 258. They always have a good selection of Meg's products on the shelf.

I have a garage but the truck barely fits and there is no room for detailing. I have a friend with a window tint business I could bother but so far the weather outside hasn't been too bad. Im trying to get ahead of the summer heat.

And gardening/yard work.
Eventually im going to build something dedicated to indoors truck work.
I hear that man. I think I meant Rte 17..not 258. Sorry about that. Yup, my wife went there today and found the clay kit and extra bottle of QD spray with no issues. Sometimes they have a lot on the shelf..sometimes not so much. That's where I usually go though. For anything else, I go online to Auto Detailing Solutions.
Here you about the garage too. I'm thinking about selling my house within the next couple of years and upgrading. My next home will have a garage big enough to easily detail my truck and still fit my poker table, pool table, and stocked bar!!!! Thanks for the reply.

Im going to try and custom build what I want with sloping floors to wash vehicles inside a fireplace, urinal and good natural and artificial lighting and good ventilation... Enough room for 3 or 4 vehicles and 2 or 3 motorcycles... with room to spare...maybe an upstairs...then when the wife leaves me or I dump her I will rent the house and live in the garage.

My neighbors think I am nuts because last spring I was dressed in my Carhartts and washing my dads Expy in the snow in March.
I had to let it thaw in the garage before I could do any work to it.

clay
Just clayed mine the other day. No swirls, scratches or anything else. Clay is designed to protect against that. Just make sure you fold/kneed clay occasionally to periodically get a fresh surface. If you can't get a clean looking surface of clay then its time to replace it. If it gets really dirty or you drop it and it gets dirt on it I wouldn't use it either. THEN, it will scratch. Also, you can use a little bit if a good quality car wash mixed with water to lubricate surface. Much like you would use to put on an emblem to allow it to slide around while getting it into place. Just wash the vehicle afterwards to remove the residue with whatever you use. I know I'm rambling but If you will leave the bottom of the vehicle until last you will keep the clay cleaner longer. The bottom has much more road grime, tar, etc. Just my two cents...or three.

clay
I use products from Zainostore.com. They recommend their car wash for clay lubrication. Maybe its just with their products. Sorry if I gave some incorrect info. If your looking for some excellent car care products though, try them out.
I had never clayed my truck and went thru a 16 oz bottle and some of a 2nd 32 oz bottle on the lower 3rd of my truck.
