Living in what seems like road-salt hell, I normally take it to the local laserwash every now and then. THe normal $8 wash does a great job at getting the major heavy grim off until I get home to wash it normally. 3 feet of snow really does a lot to the color/finishes of the local cars and trucks lol.

 

Sorry. Sometimes I read faster than my brain can process, haha. I thought you said weren't the best. A hand washing at home is the best, but even better if you have a pressure washer at home to incorporate in to the wash. A hand wash at home is very safe. Having a pressure washer to knock the major stuff off is a bonus. Even better is having a foam cannon (foam gun if you don't have a pressure washer.) You just have to use common sense when using a pressure washer. the horror stories are always from people that use them incorrectly, like the wrong nozzles or way too close or hot if it has a heat.

 

I went through a touchless car wash last week and broke my mirror. It was my fault I forgot to pull in my mirror. New mirror 228.00 install it 76.00 at the dealer.

 

How did a touchless car wash break your mirror?

 

There a sprayer circles around my truck. The sprayer came around and clipped the mirror. It just broke the trim around it but the dealer said that was one piece so I have to replace the whole mirror. These car washes are set up for a car(narrow). They need a truck wash also.

 

I've heard some horror stories here and there.....such as moldings and trim being blown off, mirrors being broken, etc. However, the replies to this post have made me feel safer using the touchless...as long as the truck is prepared appropriately...mirrors in, tonneau rolled up, etc.

I took a closer look at my truck yesterday when I got home. I may very well be going crazy, but I think the water jets rippled up my Access Rollup cover a little bit. Now there is a slight dented pattern all over the cover. Makes me angry Oh well, my dumba$$ fault for not rolling it up before going in the wash. Maybe the ripples will work themselves out after a while

The only time i use the brush at the carwash is to clean my wheels! Watch out!

 

He was using the same car/truck brush to wash the engine bay...then he says rinse it clean for the next guy?

 

Sadly ive watched 2 of the 3 videos..... im on the 3rd, who in the hell uses the brush on the engine? And if your engine can handle a powerwasher on it great, mine cant (its why my COP bolts rusted and snapped) plus ive gotten misfires from water sitting where it shouldent and works its way in.

He does have a nice ford tho...

 

I cringe when I see people with new cars take the foamy brush off the rack and start rubbing all over the paint. I never touch the brush. I used a second wash mitt on the wheels and keep it rinsed out good.

 

We have a nice one in my area, the guy in front of me had a F-250 Ext cab long bed and fit in with no worries, my screw had no problems both mirrors out and all. I'm wondering how much price difference there is, for the super all included wash here it is 12 bucks and did the best touchless job I've ever seen out of the 5 or so I have been too. No salt was left and no spots that looked missed...
