How to clean...

How do you guys wash your SM ardold lambs wool wash mitts?
Also, what's the best way to wash your DA Pads? I have the new pads that are machine washable but i'm still hesitant to put them in there..

Ps. i finally got all my stuff! DA came in yesterday just never got around to taking any pictures.

Congrats on your new stuff.

I don't know about the mits, I don't use those but how I wash my pads is I use my wash bucket with some Murphy's Oil Soap and soak them for at least a day, then rinse them off and then put on the DA, spin dry them and put them on the towel to air dry.

Depending on the products that you use, sometimes you will have to get the old product out, I have found that folding the pads in half and using your thumb and index finger to squeeze excess product out. PB's products can really saturate a pad so you want to try your best to get that stuff out.

i spray my pads real good with simple green then i set them in warm water for about a hour, then i rinse them out.

One thing I like doing if my pad gets dirty or saturated during use is the spray a ton of QD on it then get a clean terry cloth and turn the DA on at speed three and press the cloth on it to remove extra product and buildup

If your talking about after each use then thoroughly rinse out. Eventually you're gonna have to throw the mits out and get new ones washes you'll never get 'em totally clean as there will be some contaminants still in them. Usually when you notice the mit no longer has that lamb wool look to it.

You can machine wash the pads but you have to air dry them. DO NOT put them in the dryer that will just destroy them.

What temperature setting? Cold, Cool, Warm, or Hot?

I think I read someone who washes their wool mitt, then puts it in the dryer for a little bit. Don't remember what setting, but he said it prolonged the life of the mitt considerably.

I have put the lambs wool ones from walmart in the wash before on warm/cold with a gentle cycle and an extra rinse, they feel a lot softer after they have been washed, but I only do this after about ever 7 washes or so.

The problem I found with machine washing and drying the walmart lambswool mitts is this - they are pieced together out of several skins, and the stitching can't handle it. They rip apart.

You should start your own thread. This thread was asking how to clean wash mitts and buffing pads - detailing equipment, not truck seats.
