Grit Guard and Bucket Size

I haven't yet found a bucket that the bottom is the right size for the Grit Guard. I have two 5 gallon buckets where the guards sit about 1/4 of the way from the bottom due to the smaller circumference . Is this O.K. or does having that much space below the guard allow to much water to stir around, possibly circulating more dirt up above the guard which would defeat the purpose? I may be over analyzing this but I thought I would ask just to be sure.

You'll be fine with it sitting a little bit off the bottom. The purpose of the guard is to keep you sponge seperate from the contaminates like dirt and to allow the dirt to fall to the bottom.

I had that problem with the Lowes buckets I had. The grit guard actually kept settling farther down into the bucket and cracked the side of the bucket. Couldn't figure out why my wash mitt seemed to be using so much more solution than normal. It was leaking out the side and I didn't notice. The Home Depot buckets are perfect.
