Broke Down and Ordered the DA Kit

It's mid December and 74 degrees, still sweating all over my paint trying to buff the NXT wax off by hand. So enough is enough, I ordered the #2 DA kit, some HD, #80, #9 and some bonnets from ADS.

I've been hand detailing so far and it's really time consuming, especially since I have a painted bed cover. Wife's Expedition is no picnic to detail by hand either.

BTW, the Black Wow is great. Really brings the color back. I put the first application on way too thick and let it sit for a day then washed the truck. I am hoping the trim absorbed some of the excess as it was very thristy, especially the cowl trim. Future applications will be much less.

Congrats...now posts some pics when you finish using the DA for the first time...it will be hard to get that smile off your face too.

My wife has a new Expedition too, it has lots of land.

74 degrees, you lucky SOB. It's around 25 degrees here in MI. Try buffing up here.

Looks like it will be close to 25 here Monday morning, time to cover the orange trees. 74 may sound nice but we have 8 months of oppressive heat and humidity every year. I really look forward to the brief cool snaps.

Hey guy's, what should I use first with the DA, the #80 or the #9? I do have some swirling and water spots to remove. Do I use a polishing pad or the purple cutting pad?

Shhhhhhh.....

I think my lady bought me one for X-Mas but I'm not sure. Enjoy yours. If she did buy me one I will not be able to use it until the weather breaks which is usually around April or May. Dam you Floridians.

You are putting it on too heavy, and you are not letting it sit long enough before removal.

What is the big difference b/t #80 and #9. The reason I ask is b/c here is what I'm thinking about doing

Wash/Dry
Clay
#80
NXT 2.0

Is #9 more aggressive than #80

Others here can tell you that. I ordered both to see which does better on my finish. From what I understand #9 is a filler and #80 is a very light abrasive, is this correct?

Which should I use first?

BTW GLC, I may not be letting the NXT dry long enough but I don't see how I can apply it any thinner. I spread it out as thin as I possibly can. It's usually pretty late in the day when I get to the NXT stage so I may be guilty of not letting it dry long enough.

I think that you should purchase the "How to use a DA" DVD from autodetailingsolutions.com. I found it helpful for a beginner

You have to rub the NXT in, you don't just smear it on. Use a foam applicator.
