Played with a Flex 3401 & M105

All I can say is "WIIIN!"

I'm half-way through polishing my friend's car, gonna finish tomorrow, and I'm going to try to do as much as I can of my other friend's car.

I'm using a Flex 3401, M105 and a Meg's polishing pad (yellow one.) I'm doing it at 4 speed. Will hopefully have finished pictures tomorrow.

Bump it up to speed 5 just to see if you prefer it. I've used FLEX + M105 + PFW or Meg's Yellow Polishing with great success on speeds 5-6.

Ok, thanks for the tip. Will try that. Just didn't know if speed 5 was too fast for it. I thought I had read somewhere that you should use one less speed than what you would use on a PC.

BTW, that thing is a beast. Just woke up and my arms are all sore. That's how you can tell it's working

Haha, I believe the advice is to use a lower speed on a rotary. For example, I run it at 1,000-1,100 on my rotary, where as a lot of polishes require 1,400 to 1,800, and some 2k+

Flex is the only way to roll, IMHO.

Here's one of the cars I did. Friend is taking forever to send me the pix.

Here's a teaser. I'll have some work light pictures, as well as the other car I did.

This one had been done a couple months with a single pass of G100/PC and yellow pad with M80. It took some of the swirling away from the previous owner, but there were still swirls left. This time, did 2 passes with Flex, yellow Megs pad, M105 on speed 4, and it got rid of 99% of the swirls/scratches, with only the "deepest" ones still there. I don't have a paint thickness guage so I don't know how much I can take before I start getting too close to the paint layer.

Either way, here's the steps:

Wash, Flex w/ Meg's yellow pad and M105, Clearkote Vanilla hand glaze with black LC pad, P21S 100%. I worked some M105 on the mirrors since these are the clear coated ones. It wasn't that much, nor did I do it for long since I'm guessing there isn't that much CC on there. Either way, it cleaned them up good.

I really like how the M105 is basically LSP ready. As for applying the M105, what I did was work it in until practically clear, then mist a little water on the paint, and rework it in. I know some people use this trick on wool pads to get a little more cut, but I don't know how well it works with a foam pad. At least it didn't damage the paint

The A4 just got 1 pass from the Flex and M105, Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze, and S100 wax. Didn't get as much "detail" cuz he only gave me 40 bucks LOL. That's why there isn't any reflecto shots of it, and why it may look a little less shiny.

Naw, but I do give it a read every so often. The owner of the S4 is, though he doesn't post much. The Flex is actually his as well, but he's letting me use it since I detailed his car.

That blue looks amazing, and you take some really great pictures.

I wish I had a Flex...

Thanks

I didn't take the pictures, my friend did. That's why it took forever to post them up. Don't know exactly what model it is, but it's a Canon DSLR (or at least what I would consider a DSLR). I'll ask him tomorrow.

EDIT: Apparently, it's a Canon 30D.
