Paint in bad shape HELP!!!

Hey guys well i got the wife a 2004 ford taurus ses a few days ago and started to wash it today and there are waterspots under the paint. Looks like the guy that had it NEVER DRIED THE CAR and just let it air dry. Any ideas on what products will work and would it be better to buff it or hand do it. Worst thing is the car is black and it shows very bad Looking forward to replys THANKS

Anyways, without seeing it, I would try and use 80 on a test spot and see how that works. I too had a lot of water spots on my truck (black) and 80 took care of them. So, just try it on a test spot and see how it goes.

Try a claybar first. Then read the detailing sticky for general procedures to do proper paint correction.

Household vinegar will remove water spots in most cases. Apply on clean surface with a sponge and rinse with water

If the spots are on the paint claybar or vinegar (I personally would not use vinegar on paint. Glass sure) might help. Depending on the quality of water (Minerals etc...) the paint might be etched. If thats the case you will need a D/A or rotary along with compounds like Megs #80 or 105 to correct the paint. If etched the issue is into the clear coat not on the clear coat. Wash and dry car and with a good light look very close or use a magnifying glass and you will be able to see exactly what you have.
If you check out the megs site you will see examples of each type of water spot.

Best bet follow what glc said above ^^^^^^^^^
