CD-2 Engine Detailer

I picked up a can of CD-2 engine detailer the other day. I just got around to using it. Instructions say to spray on and leave to hood open for 20 min. so it can dry and do not wipe off. Here is a pic just after I sprayed it. I will post another pic after it has time to dry. I've heard a lot of good things about this stuff. It is supposedly hard to find but my local AutoZone had plenty of it in stock for $4.99. Anyone else here use it?

If it works let us know... I'd like to find something to just spray on and let dry... I'm afraid to use water around the engine.

Just used it the first time the other day. Went out and bought two more cans since they are on sale. Cleaned the engine with APC and then applied CD2. It hadn't dried the 20 minutes before I took the pictures, but it still gets the point across.

looks great. Is it greasy at all? I'd like to see a shot of it after 3-4 weeks to see if it attracts dust.

That looks like a great product. I am going to have to visit my local AutoZone and see if the have it in stock. Looks better than Hyperdressing I am curious on how durable it is and how much dust it attracts.

FYI - I've used this a few years ago to detail the engine on my previous car... from what I remember, after a few applications it would start peeling off (you're putting layer upon layer - only the first layer is sticking to the parts on the engine).

It was a PIA to clean off afterwards....it didn't come off too easy.. I don't think I even got it all off.....

IMO, I think a water based protectant like Vinylex is the way to go..... wash/clean engine and then just spray it on...

Hey, Mike... is this stuff kind of like a very thin clear spray paint, of sorts? -- like the kind that, if you get it on the paint, you're going to hate trying to remove it (ala: Engine Kote).

RP - yes... it's like that - somewhat like a clear lacquer spray.

All I remember is that after a couple years, it started to flake.... funny, I think I still have a can of it in the garage... may spray the garden tractor with it....

I got some on the paint of my new commuter car last night, and it washed off like nothing today.

I got some of this and want to know, what parts or things should I cover up before spraying? It mentions to cover belts and a few other things. Any tips?
