Dawn Power Dissolver for cleaning pads

After hearing about Dawn Power Dissolver over at Autopia I decided to give it a try. I picked up a couple of bottles at Wal-Mart for $1.98 each. I have a hard time getting my PC pads completely clean. The Power Dissolver does a great job of removing old wax/polish from the pads.

I only have a problem with my white CCS pads. They never seem to get as clean as I want them. I used one yesterday on a vehicle and it seems to be pretty much stained the color of the polish now but it seems that everything is out of the pad. I don't know. I soaked them in warm water mixed with Murphy's Oil Soap over night and then used regular Dawn on them this morning and every pad color get's to like new condition except for that white.

Good info. I had actually been following that thread over at autopia as well. I've always been pleased with Murphy's but, I may give this stuff a try...

I had a hard time getting Optimum Polish out of my white CCS pads. No mater how much I cleaned them I could still squeeze out some old polish after I soaked them in hot water.

I can squeeze them til I'm blue in the face and not get any more product out of the pad but it still remains the color of the product. Is that normal?

I thought you weren't supposed to clean the pads? How exactly do you guys do it without messing them up?

Here are the before and after shots of the pads. I sprayed both pads with PD and let them sit for 20 min. I rinsed them in warm water and this is how they came out.

Wow that is impressive, did it take out buildup on the inside of the pad too? Why won't it cause the glue on the backing to come apart?

Yes it removed all the build up and it doesn't harm the glue on the backing. I found out about it from this thread http://www.autopia.org/forum/detaili...dissolver.html

So I went to walmart today and bought some Power Dissolver, and Wow it works great! It worked extremely well on my 80 pad basically taking all of it out and making it look brand new. I also used it on a 21 pad, 26 pad, and a color x pad. It worked well on the color x, but it took 2 tries ont he 21 and 26 pads which don't look completely new, but a whole heck of a lot better. I think I may have accidentally picked up a small amount of black grease on them and that is why they aren't back to the original beige color, but they looks great and there is not more product coming out of them.

I'm real happy with it. It was always a pain in the a$$ to clean the pads. I almost threw one of my pads away because it was so dirty. After cleaning it with Power Dissolver, it looks almost brand new.
