Angry Swirl marks

How do I get the swirl marks off my truck after I wash it. I've tried waxing, but it still looks bad. It looks great from a distance but when your up close all you see is the swirl marks.

Youll need a DA most likely.

Swirl marks are scratches in the clear coat.
Here is a good read on what it means to remove scratches/swirl marks

You could try some products by hand, such as ScratchX, but it will be much easier to do with a dual action polisher. I use a Porter Cable 7424 along with Meguiar's #83 DACP, #80 speed glaze and topped with M21 or M26 for a last step product.

Here is a good read on how to use a DA polisher

Lot's of other good products out there. Just have to figure out what you are willing to spend and what you are comfortable with.

Have any picture of your swirls. There are a variety of products out there to use. A picture would make a recommendation easier.

Wax doesn't EVER remove swirls...it's just that SOME waxes sort of hide them...temporarily only.

You need a polish that has abrasives to actually take off some of the clear coat to level the paint and remove the deeper swirls and scratches. Think of it like sanding to remove grooves in wood.

A DA is the beginner's tool of choice to try and do that. Do some searching and you will find a lot of info about it.

Have you read the detailing sticky and the detailing dictionary at the top of the page? If not I would start there and if you have more questions there are alot of people here with a vast wealth of knowledge that can help make you paint all it can be. Also posting pics of the truck in direct sunlight is best to show the swirls and defects in the paint.
